Every Budgey account comes with BaoBot, an AI assistant wired into the same tools that power the app itself. It can answer questions about your spending, add and categorize transactions, read receipts and bank statements, rebalance categories, audit your budget, and remember what you tell it.

Ask your budget anything
The simplest superpower: questions in plain English, answered from your real data. BaoBot knows your categories, periods, transactions, and goals.

Log and manage money by talking
Anything you can do with taps, you can do with a sentence. BaoBot adds transactions ("add $43 groceries at Trader Joe's yesterday"), creates categories, moves money between them, splits a transaction across categories, sets up recurring Loops, and plans paydays. It picks the right category from the description, and asks when it is not sure.
Point it at paper: receipt scanning
Snap a photo of a receipt and BaoBot reads the store, total, and date, then files the transaction in the right category. It is the fastest honest way to keep a budget current — the free plan includes 2 scans to try it, and Budgey Unlimited makes it unlimited.
Feed it files: statements and spreadsheets
With Budgey Unlimited, upload a bank statement, credit card statement, or spreadsheet — CSV, Excel, PDF, Word, or a photo — and BaoBot reads every row, maps each transaction to your categories, and imports the lot. It is how people bring months of history in from another app or a bank export in minutes.
Every import is auditable and undoable: the batch is tracked as a unit, so "undo that import" removes it cleanly with one message. Automation you can take back is automation you can trust.
Teach it your life
Tell BaoBot things worth remembering — "rent went up to $1,450 starting September," "I'm saving for a wedding next June," "don't suggest cutting the dog's food budget" — and it stores them in a memory it draws on across every future conversation. Ask "what do you know about me?" any time to see (and correct) what it has picked up.
You can also set its tone in settings — from strictly-business to a friendly hype-bot — and it personalizes insights per period as it learns your patterns.

Can BaoBot import my bank statement or CSV file?+
Yes — with Budgey Unlimited, upload a CSV, Excel, PDF, Word file, or photo and BaoBot reads every transaction, maps each one to your categories, and imports the batch. Imports are tracked as a unit and fully undoable with one message, so you can always take an import back.
Does BaoBot remember what I tell it?+
Yes. BaoBot keeps a memory of facts you share — income changes, upcoming plans, preferences — and uses them in future conversations and insights. Ask it "what do you know about me?" to review its memory, and tell it to forget anything you want removed.
Can other AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT manage my Budgey budget?+
Yes. Budgey runs an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server at budgeyapp.com/mcp exposing the same 70+ budgeting tools BaoBot uses. Create an API key in Settings under AI agents, connect your assistant of choice, and it can read your budget, log transactions, and run analyses — full setup instructions live at budgeyapp.com/developers.
