Mint is gone. Intuit shut it down in March 2024 and sent people to Credit Karma. Credit Karma is a credit app, not a category budget. This page ranks mint alternatives for people who still need a real plan.
Budgey is #1 here. Auto from real money builds the plan from your actual pay. The number you open the app for is what’s left of your paycheck, so you can sell the yes.
Meta promise: Best mint alternatives after Intuit shut Mint down. Budgey is the free mint alternative. Auto from real money shows what’s left of your paycheck so you can sell the yes. Free forever core. Unlimited $10/mo or $100/yr.

Why people still search Mint alternatives
Mint was the default free budget for more than a decade. Then it disappeared. People are still here for a few reasons.
- Credit Karma kept credit scores and account tracking. It did not keep Mint-style category budgets.
- You want a free mint alternative. Mint was free. Most replacements start with a trial.
- Your bank balance still counts bills that belong to the next paycheck. You want what’s left of your paycheck, not a chart of last month.
- You liked import. You hated categories that flipped without asking.
- Lists of the best budget apps after Mint pick dashboards. You want permission to say yes tonight.
If you already picked Budgey, go to how to switch from Mint. The full list is below.
How we ranked
No invented survey scores. No fake download stats. Ranked for people who actually budgeted in Mint.
- What’s left of your paycheck. One number that answers "can I say yes?"
- Auto from real money. A bank-connected build, not a blank sheet you abandon.
- Free forever core. Mint was free. A trial-only wall is a different product.
- Sell the yes. Permission with a plan.
- Paycheck periods. Payday to payday, not a fake calendar month.
Budgey ranks first because it matches that list. Other apps win other jobs. We say so.

1. Budgey, best Mint alternative for what’s left of your paycheck
Mint showed you where money went. Budgey answers the next question. What’s left of your paycheck?
Auto from real money. You connect on Unlimited. We build from your actual deposits and spend, not a spreadsheet you were supposed to finish on Sunday. You review and approve the plan so you stay in control. Then you sell the yes. Dinner, DoorDash, ice skates. You do not treat the bank balance as the plan.
Why Budgey ranks #1 here
- Free forever core on iOS, Android & Web. A real budget, with a free start like Mint had.
- Auto from real money when you want bank import without categories changing unless you approve them.
- Paycheck periods that match how you get paid
- One number. What’s left of your paycheck.
- Sell the yes. Permission with a plan.
Pricing. Free forever core. Unlimited $10/mo or $100/yr.

2. Monarch Money, the dashboard most mint replacement lists pick
Monarch is the app those lists name when they want a polished mint replacement for the whole household. It covers budgets, net worth, investments, and couples sharing. It is a dashboard. It is not a paycheck app that answers "can I say yes tonight?"
Monarch has no permanent free plan, only a 7-day trial. Core is $14.99/month or $99.99/year. Plus is about $199/year. Prices checked September 2026.
Pick Monarch if the job is wealth and budget in one dashboard. Pick Budgey if the job is what’s left of your paycheck. See Budgey vs Monarch.
3. Credit Karma, the path Intuit named, not a budget
Intuit sent Mint users here. Credit Karma tracks credit and accounts. It does not replace Mint-style category budgets. It is fine as a credit app. It is not a free mint alternative for planning a paycheck.
If Credit Karma is all you tried after shutdown, you have not replaced Mint yet.
4. Rocket Money, subscriptions and bill clutter
Rocket Money, formerly Truebill, is strong when the pain is forgotten subscriptions and bill negotiation. Tracking is extra. Budgeting is not the whole product.
Pick it to cut waste. Pick Budgey when you already know the waste and need what’s left of your paycheck so you can sell the yes.
5. YNAB, if you want a method
YNAB is excellent if you like assigning every dollar. It is a learning curve and a paid product after a 34-day trial. $14.99/month or $109/year, no permanent free plan, checked September 2026. Mint was free import and a glance at categories. That is a different promise.
If you want the method, stay. If you want Auto from real money and sell the yes, stay with Budgey. Or read YNAB alternatives and Budgey vs YNAB.
6. Quicken Simplifi, cash-flow automation
Simplifi is a solid paid cash-flow and bills dashboard. It uses calendar-month spend plans, often cheaper than Unlimited on promo. There is no ongoing free tier. It is weak for paycheck periods. Pick it if you want cash-flow alerts and you are fine paying Quicken.
7. Empower, free net-worth lean
Empower comes from the Personal Capital line. It is useful when you want a free-leaning net-worth and investment view. That is a different job than a free mint alternative for paycheck decisions.
8. Copilot Money, Apple-first tracking
Copilot is polished for iPhone and Mac households that want beautiful tracking. There is no Android app. You start on a trial. It shows where money went. It does not show what’s left of your paycheck.
9. EveryDollar, Ramsey zero-based, free manual
EveryDollar keeps zero-based rules with a free manual path and paid bank sync. Strong if you are in the Ramsey ecosystem. It is built for the Ramsey program, not sell the yes.
