Switching from EveryDollar to Budgey

About 20 minutes, most of it automated. Here's the exact path from EveryDollar to a working Budgey budget.

Part 1 — Get your data out of EveryDollar

  1. 1

EveryDollar does not offer a full transaction CSV export on all plans — if you have bank sync, your bank's own CSV export covers the same history.

  2. 2

Write down your category groups and amounts from your current month's budget.

  3. 3

Download a CSV from your bank(s) for any history you want to bring over.

Good to know: Most EveryDollar switchers recreate categories fresh (Budgey's onboarding suggests a starter set) and let bank sync or a bank CSV backfill history.

Part 2 — Set up Budgey

  1. 4

    Create your free Budgey account

Sign up at budgeyapp.com or in the iOS/Android app. Onboarding takes about two minutes — BaoBot suggests a starter set of categories, and you can rename them to match the ones you had before.

  2. 5

    Set your pay period

Tell Budgey how you get paid — weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Your budget periods will follow your actual paychecks, which is probably an upgrade over the calendar months your old app forced.

  3. 6

    Upload your export to BaoBot

Open BaoBot and upload your CSV, Excel, or PDF file (file uploads are part of Budgey Unlimited). It reads each transaction's description, amount, and date, matches categories by name, and imports the lot — and any import can be undone with one message.

  4. 7

    Connect your banks (optional, recommended)

With Budgey Unlimited, connect up to 3 banks or cards via Plaid. From then on, new transactions land in your Review Inbox with AI-suggested categories — you approve each one, and your budget stays current without typing.

Switching from EveryDollar: your questions

Is Budgey cheaper than EveryDollar premium?+

Monthly, yes: Budgey Unlimited is $10/month versus roughly $17.99/month for EveryDollar premium. Yearly they are close ($100 vs $79.99), but Budgey includes AI receipt scanning, BaoBot, and MCP agent access that EveryDollar does not have at any price.

Do I have to follow a budgeting method with Budgey?+

No. Budgey has no attached program — you set amounts per category per pay period and Budgey tracks what you have left. You can be as strict or relaxed as you want.

Does EveryDollar's free plan include bank sync?+

No — EveryDollar's free plan is manual entry only; bank sync requires premium. Budgey's free plan is also manual (bank sync is part of Budgey Unlimited), but includes goals, cross-device sync, and a taste of AI receipt scanning and BaoBot.

Can I move my EveryDollar budget to Budgey?+

Yes — recreate your category list (a few minutes with BaoBot's help) and import any transaction history via CSV if you have it. The guide at budgeyapp.com/switch/from-everydollar covers it.
